Extending Ground to Avoid Slope Errors

In this example we will demonstrate how to fix solpe errors by extending the original topo surface.

SLOPE ERR

This error condition occurs when there is no intersection of the road template with topography. Typically this error condition occurs when the fill angle is shallower than the ground side slope (an infinite fill volume is created) or the cut angle is shallower than the side slope (infinite cut volume).  It also will occur if the template falls off the edge of the TIN model (Figure 1, below).

Extend Ground Check Box

Set this check box to extend the draped ground cross section beyond the edge of the original ground Terrain surface (Topo). Press the associated button for more options in Section Extrapolate Ground Options.

Corridor | Options, check Extend Ground, click on the Capture_6.JPG button.

Extrapolate distance
Distance to extend the ground beyond the edge of the Terrain.
Slope probe length
Distance used to extract a slope from the Terrain surface.
Slope probe offset 
Distance from the edge of the surface to the outside probe point.

Click OK to Recalculate Range.
