Instructions for Migrating to FIPS compatible Version

This article applies to:
- Terrain 3D
- Terrain Forestry
- RoadEng Civil
- RoadEng Forestry
- Softree Optimal
Before installing the new software
For all CURRENT end-users:
(select applicable licensing)
- If using cloud licenses, return all cloud license:
- Open any module of the software.
- Navigate to Setup | License Manager
- Press Return License
- That user can now close the program ("save and exit" if prompted)
- Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Softree\License, delete license folder and all its contents
- Uninstall current Softree product(s)
- If using network licensing, disconnect all network licenses:
- Open any module of the software.
- Navigate to Setup | License Manager
- Press Disconnect License
- That user can now close the program ("save and exit" if prompted)
- Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Softree\License, delete license folder and all its contents
- Uninstall current Softree product(s)
For the SERVER-side (if used) / Network License Manager:

Open the network license manager program

Delete the tabs for each license on the network license manager

Shutdown the network license manager
- Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Softree\License, delete license folder and all its contents

Uninstall the old version of the network license manager from the host computer
Installation of new software
For the SERVER-side (if used) / Network License Manager:
- Install the software for the network license manager on the designated host computer. (Please refer to your custom install instructions email for the Network License Manager).
- Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Softree\SoftreeNetworkService
- Create a text file with the filename LicenseMgr.ini
- Add these two lines:
[LicenseManager]
EncryptionMode=1

Save and close the LicenseMgr.ini file
- Configure your Network License Manager (instructions here)
- NOTE: If this is a new installation of the network license manager, you will have to configure firewall rules (step 3 in instructions)
For all END-USERS:
- Install software
- Navigate to the INI file C:\ProgramData\Softree\RoadEng11\Softree.ini, open with a text editor
- Scroll down to the [RoadEng] section of the softree.ini file (note that the entries in each section are in alphabetic order) and add this line:
- EncryptionMode=1
- Save and close the softree.ini file
- Open software, proceed with reinstating licensing method.
You should now be able to use Softree products on a FIPS-enabled computer.
