This article applies to:
- RoadEng Civil
- RoadEng Forestry
While RoadEng normally shows a combined "Cut/Fill Depth" value, this method allows you to isolate Fill Depths (i.e. negative Cut Depth values) for clearer visualization.
This article explains how to set up a custom attribute to display Fill Depths in your Data Window.
Typically, Fill Depth values will be displayed as negative cuts, as shown in Figure 1 below.

Figure 1: Cut Depths reported as negative.
You can create a user-defined attribute to display a Fill Depth column by going to Setup - Location Setup - Attributes tab.
Next, press the Add... button and set the values for Variable, Heading, Units, Reference and Type as shown in Figure 2 below:

Then, press Fields... button and browse to select CutDp in L-line folder.

Figure 3: Function to convert negative Cut Depths into positive values.
Manually type "-1*" after the CutDp variable to convert negative Cut Depths into positive values, as shown above.
Press OK twice to apply the changes and accept the range recalculation when prompted.
Following this, you can display the Fill Depth attribute you created by selecting it in Data Window Options - Columns, following the workflow shown in Figure 4 below:

Finally, press OK twice to apply the changes. You'll have a result similar to the one shown below:
